Safety should always be a priority. Wherever you are, even at home, you should not take safety for granted. Once safety loses its spot on the priority list, bad things can take place. There is no denying that there is an increasing number of home invasion reports all over the country. This is rather scary because these means that your home is no longer a safe haven where you can sleep and rest without any worries. In addition to that, there are instances where home invasions can leave a homeowner or two dead. This is the last thing that you want. Therefore, it is important that you make sure that your home is safe and secure.
However, how can you do this? You can keep your home safe and secure with the help of home security systems. Most houses, especially in high class residences, have home security systems. These security systems are monitored by the company that installed the home securty system and in case the security perimeter is breached it sends out an alarm to the homeowner. Usually, homeowners choose a security system that enables a “silent” alarm. A silent alarm discreetly alerts the company. This can be useful especially when there are really intruders because this will keep the intruders from running away or from losing their composure and accidentally kill anyone.
What is there to know about home security systems? Here are some things that you need to understand about a home security system because this will also help you understand the importance of alarm monitoring as well.
1. The alarm has sensors that can be triggered by an unusual movement. The usual trigger is an unauthorized opening of a door. Typically, homeowners deactive their home security systems before they open the door. A special code that only the homeowners know is used for deactivation. When the alarm is deactivated the alarm will not sound. However, if the door is forcefully opened an alarm will be triggered. This is applicable to all types of home security systems including wireless home alarm systems.
2. In case the owner forgets to deactivate the alarm and opens the door, he or she has 30-45 seconds to deactivate the alarm. If the alarm is not deactivated within this time frame, a signal will be sent to the company that installed the home security system.
3. If the company receives a signal from the system that was installed at a particular house, they will interpret this as a possible breach. They will then try to contact the homeowner. If the homeowner does not verify the situation, the company will then call the police department. At this point, a police patrol will be sent to the house to check on the situation.
